Two little things.

Earlier this month Chloe bought this yarn, Rub-A-Dub, and the accompanying custom slot.
And earlier today I finished making these for her baby, due in the spring.

I am particularly pleased with the 'Big Pants' style soaker. It was originally going to be shorties to wear under a sleepsuit as I have yet to come up with a soaker pattern that I like. However it became obvious as I neared the gusset that there would not be enough yarn to run to shorties... and the 'big pants' style was the obvious solution. I may well be making some of them on purpose now!

(Although they do rather remind me of the nasty Navy-Blue-Knickers that I used to have to wear for indoor PE - and occasionally outdoor PE on a freezing playing field with a public footpath running alongside. Wouldn't be allowed these days...)

Past And Future

Loads has been going on recently so a quick update is in order!

I spent a bit of time on getting some newborn longies made - lots of stress getting the right amount of yarn in the right thickness for the right sizes and ended up with two little tiny pairs. The first pair sold almost the moment they were listed!
The second, slightly larger, pair are still available:
And I dyed up this lovely yarn and offered it with an optional custom slot - also now spoken for: And lastly today:

Little sneek peeks of yarn for my collab with Scrunchkins... pics are only available here until it arrives with Allie!

Prize Plus for Jane

Way back in the fog of history - well July anyway - I offered a custom slot for a pair of shorties or boardies as a prize for the CNA Birthday celebrations. The winner went away to look for the perfect yarn for her prize to be made up in. Eventually she came up with the lovely Summer Skies BFL dyed by tashagem and as it's now coming up to winter she asked if her prize could be upgraded to a pair of longies.
So here they are (not a good photography day I'm afraid).

I hope you like them Jane - there should be extra rise to move into and a bit of an extra turn up in the legs.

And now it's full tilt on the BBM stuff...

At last Jenny!

You've been waiting quite a while for these:

Large longies (phew- the last 'no frills' pair of the order) in Heather:

And custom longies for your daughter - I hope the ruffled leg cuffs mean they'll go on to be crops and fit her for ages:

I keep feeling them up and down with hope in my heart... but sadly I think it's unlikely that they'll be dry enough to get them in the post today. Better go and check the strike update on RM's website in a moment but I think you may be waiting a little while longer :(

So now I'm hard at work on custom longies for Jane. Except that the kids haven't been well and have stopped sleeping once again so I'm struggling to keep awake and focus on things!

Something for me!

Dyed this up for a little treat for myself... and somebody else will be making it up for me... I can't wait XD
And as I had opened the very precious bottle of old-fashioned yellow food colouring (none of this newfangled 'natural' rubbish that couldn't dye a cake let alone wool) I sacrificed a small amount for a forthcoming secret BBM collab.

Mmm... I think it will be called 'Bonfire'!

BBM looms

Here's the sneaky peek of the wool for BBM longies...

The blue is still wet and there's trim for the green on the right. I decided to overdye it so it's in the microwave right now!

If I manage to get all that lot crocheted up then I've had a cool idea I'd like to try out for the end of the month.

For Jo

I'm still working away on Jenny's order - in fact the third pair of longies would have been finished last night... except I fell asleep... oh the excitement of my Friday nights...

But in between all the crocheting I've been busy dyeing and this lovely bundle for Jo was despatched safely today... phew... just need the postmen to do their jobs now...

There's also more woolly loveliness waiting to be re-skeined and go in the shop and even more which will be turning into longies for Buy British Month on http://clothnappyaddicts.co.uk/ Pics of all that lot coming soon...

Now back to that crocheting...

(It's obviously one of those ... days...)

First pair for Jenny

Finished these yesterday - the first of four pairs of 'no frills' longies for Jenny's shop http://www.nappyweb.co.uk/

They're in the Clematis colourway from New Lanark Mills and they've come out just a little larger than my normal medium size - I think their 'heather mixture' yarn is a bit more solid than their undyed which I've used previously.

The next ones, a large pair in blueberry, are already underway...

Pic for Jenny...

...here it is...
...now to turn it into five pairs of longies...

Tuesday, 29 September 2009

And the other four...

Hot Lips (I had a lot of problems trying to get my camera to actually focus on the red)

Fisherman's Fancy (who says I'm a fickle namer?)

And I felt that the other two needed a little more definition of colour so I retouched both of them and I think they've worked out pretty well.

Cherry Reef

and finally Malarkey (which gave me problems as the green dye turned out to be so strong I had to rinse the skein about ten times)

All four in the shop now!

Two done!

My children never seem to sleep... and re-skeining with two little 'helpers' is a job filled with tangles, shouting and tears... which means that only two skeins are done so far!

But I'm pleased to say I've finally managed to work out how to get my new camera to focus so these will be going in the shop tonight. Ancient Rime and (thanks to Annie for naming inspiration) Disco Candy:

Six socks!

Well with 15 trial-size pots of dye to try out I didn't want to be spending several days over each colourway!

So far I've had a go with six colours... and wierdly I've now got six skeins hanging on the kitchen door...

I've even got names for five of them... R to L: Fishermen's Feet; Hot Lips; Malarkey; Unnamed; Ancient Rime and Cherry Reef.

Not entirely sure about Fishermen's Feet... sounds a bit niffy... might change it to Fisherman's Friend... still niffy but different connotations...

The unnamed one with the hot pink is just so unlike my past work... but I love it!

Not entirely certain they're all completely finished yet... but I'll let you know.
